A beautifully toned tetradrachm from Maroneia

THRACE. Maroneia. Circa 189/8-49/5 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 32 mm, 16.71 g, 12 h). Head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing tainia and wreath of ivy and fruit. Rev. ΔIONYΣOY - ΣΩTHPOΣ / MAPΩNITΩ[N] Dionysos standing front, head to left, holding grapes in his right hand and narthex stalks in his left; to inner left, monogram; to inner right, Θ. Dewing 1295. Pozzi (Boutin) 2237. Schönert-Geiss 1099-1120. A fine early example, beautifully toned and struck in excellent metal. A few light old marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
